Globally, the fashion industry is responsible for about 92 million tons of textile waste each year, with India being one of the significant contributors due to its large textile and garment production sector. Mahek Malhotra founded Didi Atelier with the ambitious goal to extend the life cycle of luxury South Asian goods and transform the way pre-loved garments are perceived, recognizing how disposable South Asian wear had become for consumers and understanding that urgent change was needed.
